What is SA8000?

The SA8000® Standard is the leading social certification standard for factories and organizations across the globe. It was established by Social Accountability International in 1997 as a multi-stakeholder initiative. Over the years, the Standard has evolved into an overall framework that helps certified organizations demonstrate their dedication to the fair treatment of workers across industries and in any country.

Hovon is committed:

1)  To respect and comply with all the requirements of SA8000, ISO14001 & OHSAS18001 Management System;

2)  To comply with the national legal requirements, international laws and regulations and different code of conduct requirements by customers;

3)  To carry out consistent improvement in our management system and to continuously improve our performance in social and environmental responsibility as well as our workplace safety;

4)  To enhance our communications with suppliers and to provide them with reasonable support in improving their own performance in social and environmental responsibility as well as workplace safety so as to meet management system requirements of SA8000, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001;

5)  To set up, implement and maintain an effective management system in SA8000, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 with proper documentation;

6)  To communicate and demonstrate our performance in social and environmental responsibility as well as workplace safety to the relevant stakeholders.

Empowering Employees

Employee Involvement and Empowerment are essential at Hovon with our visions:

To create an environment where employees understand and commit to company’s direction, strategies and goals (i.e. thus set up standards of performance for all employees), subsequently facilitates to shared interests among workers and managers with the overall goals of initiating improvement.

To create an open & harmonious atmosphere as embracing our superb products – all employees are treated fair & impartially, unlike many other factories with same product nature (e.g. eliminated unnecessarily duplicate and annoying security check system, entrusted workers with self-discipline & integrity).

Synergy of our three-folded approach:

Workers Training:

Improve line-of-sight for employees by developing our factory as a learning organization , i.e. through active participation in various training programs, esp. WE program [details please refer to www.we-socialquality.com ], majority of our workers attended the official WE program, benefited from the WE participatory approach with focus on Dialogue.

Worker Representatives:

Set up of Worker Representatives by means of open election among the workforce since year 2009. Every worker representatives are trained and encouraged as the communication channels between employees and the company.

Certification Goals:

Challenging quantified goals as means of Employee Involvement and Empowerment – SA8000 Certificate attained since year 2011, ISO14001 certification goal in year 2017 by our team efforts. Involvement through CSR program is one of the most effective approach in involving the younger generation staff!
